iPlayer Petition

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

If you have not signed the iPlayer Petition on the No 10 website, please do. I find it infuriating that the BBC could even consider in this day and age to launch such an important service for Windows and IE only. What are they thinking?

2006 - Executive Summary

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

This has been a pretty eventful year for my family and me. It has also been the first full year in which I have blogged more or less regularly, writing a total of 56 posts. This makes it a lot easier to look back and remember the highlights of the past 12 months.

In January I […]

Channel 4 looses LOST to Sky

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I have previously confessed to my family’s addiction to LOST. So ever since the third season started on ABC three weeks ago, we have been very excited.
In the UK though Sky has spent big money on preventing the majority of the population from watching LOST. Personally I could not care less, as there are plenty […]

Things look dire over at Yahoo!

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

“Is this what happens when redundancies attack?”
I don’t know any details (wink), but it seems like people in my old team at Yahoo! are not having a particularly good time.
In that context it sure can’t help that the NYT published this article today, which sounds to me like it is pretty spot on in identifying […]

Woah, Scrybe!

Monday, October 9th, 2006

While generally enthusiastic about new products, I am not that easily wowed. However, I just watched this video preview of Scrybe, a new kind of online organiser and wholy smokes, I am pretty impressed. Scrybe is only going into a public beta later this month, but if it delivers anything like the experience that they […]

The Publishing Industry

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

My former boss Lloyd posted an entertaining summary of a focus group he attended at the DTI about disruptive technologies and the publishing industry. I am always fascinated by discussions like this. When people who’s business is changing at light speed and who are in some cases driven out of it because of technological change […]

Why Google Reader rocks…

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

…because it has an XHTML version for my mobile.
I am the dream user for any mobile service. I spend 2 hours every day on a packed commuter train, travelling in and out of London. So I actually have the time to play with all sorts of stuff on my phone. I read personal and corporate […]

Is Mahir Back?

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Shortly after I started at Yahoo! in 1999, Mahir, the “I kiss you” Turk, hit the Internet with his hillarious website. We spent weeks and weeks laughing ourselves under the table about this man. I get a very fuzzy feeling when I think back to those days. It was a time when millions of people […]

Google Earth Will Make The World A Better Place

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

The recent launch of Google Earth for Mac OS X made me play with the application some more and fall in love all over again.
When I first saw Google Earth I was absolutely blown away. For the first time in years here was a new product that made me sit at my desk for over […]

Milliondollarhomepage held ransom

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

Alex Tew manages to stay in the news, against the odds. Now, as the BBC reports, some cowboys are trying to blackmail him by running a DOS attack on his site unless he pays them $5,000. I can understand that some people are jealous and annoyed that they didn’t come up with his stunningly simple […]
